Rosana B Que filme delicinha, momento nostálgico do que nunca vivi, kkkk, nem nunca tinha assistido, mas adoravelmente romântico, leve e divertido… Bom ver ícones dos anos 80 com seus belos e jovens rostinhos, travestidos nos anos 60, deliciosamente saudosista… Passei o filme inteiro tentando adiar o personagem do meu ídolo incompreendido Nicolas Cage, mas ele conseguiu ser muito fofo… O Amor pode ser para Sempre, mas também pode ser eterno enquanto dure… Lindinho... Apparently his insistance on doing this weird voice was a major problem on the set.Peggy Sue Got Married could have been a simple bit of nostalgia bait, giving middle-aged former kids in the 1980s a bit of a trip down memory lane with conversations in the bathroom and cruising down Main Street. While there are plenty of moments where Kathleen Turner revels in her unusual circumstances by giving advice about new inventions or reconnecting with lost family, there's plenty more for her to explore - missed connections, regrets, new opportunities, all the things that have gradually built up in her own mind over the years and twisted by nostalgia, but that she now sees with fresh eyes. Some golden opportunities may not have been so golden, and it turns out there are some things that we might take for granted. There's a surprising and utterly charming moment where she confides in her late grandfather that she's become a time traveler, and he not only instantly believes her but rallies his buddies to help her out, it's very cute. No idea what Cage was doing because he's still patently insane, but there's thankfully a bit more to this Francis Ford Coppola flick than some well-placed investment advice.Glad Sofia Coppola turned out to be an interesting and accomplished filmmaker, because she doesn't really up her acting game here. Because Francis Ford Coppola doesn't go for the whiz bang of the effects; or the buzzkill off the plot twists; buzzing along like an action movie toy; the way Future does. This doesn't go for effects; it goes for memories. It goes for the verisimilitude of the time period; the carefully recreated magic that only nostalgia brings; and in that sense Peggy has Future beaten hands down. This feels much more real! It has the eerie, bittersweet rush you get when you open an old high school yearbook. The performances are all universally fine; even Nicholas Cage, who would only appear in a "Norman Rockwell movie like this if (he) could use a Gumby or Pokey voice". And he does, and you know what? It's dorky but it works. And Kathleen is just superb. One little plot hole I noticed about this movie though: Peggy spends most of the movie obsessed with NOT hooking up with Charlie again; not letting history repeat itself; as she got pregnant the last time with Charlie on Graduation Night, and it ruined her life; essentially tying her to Charlie forever. So she's bending over backwards this time to make sure that doesn't happen. But doesn't she care about her daughter? Her daughter that she loves so much? Doesn't she care this will obliterate her out of existence?That should have been addressed at some point!But still, .overall a near-perfect nostalgia piece. Highly recommended.
