So here is a completely random question. Was Kira Jax named after the Mortal Kombat characters Kira and Jax?
It just seems strange that she would have two separate names that both just happen to be the names of two characters from the same franchise. Just curious.

Actually she was named after two Deep Space Nine characters
(Since I'm the one who suggested the name, I should know)

Kira Nerys and one of the Daxes right? I don't remember a Jax but I remember the Daxes.

Good to know.
Just a coincidence then.

If KJ negates a Cathar Spearmen and then engages three of them simultaneously (they were all previously unengaged and lets say the one negated is part of these three), are all three Spearmen unable to perform a Braced Spear?
I'm being told by someone else that just the one figure originally targeted is the only one negated (hence two Braced Spears are performed in this example) and I disagree. To me, "All of the special powers on the chosen figure's army card" means everyone.

Short answer is : you are right. if Kira Jax target a common squad figure with her "exploit weakness" power, all figures of this card (or cards) loss all their powers.
In the power :
All of the special powers on the chosen figure's card (or cards if your opponent has more than one Common Army Card for that figure) are negated until the end of Kira Jax's turn
It means that for the duration of Kira Jax's turn, the chosen figure's card doesn't have any power at all. I don't even know what "Braced Spear" you're talking about ? I just see a blank cathar spearmen card, without any power.
The power even go as far as saying that if the opponent use more than one army card for common squads, all of them are negated. I don't see how someone could read "only the targeted figure" out of this power.

Well, that's how I read the power; that it only affected ONE figure, not every single figure on the card.
So, C3V, how was it meant to be played?

I don't question your honesty, MegaSilver, so I should probably have been less categorical in my statement that nobody could read the power this way. I offer you my apologies.
Exploit weakness says : "All of the special powers on the chosen figure's card are negated"
if you negate the power of a card, it has effect for all the figure of this card. In fact, any change to a card in Heroscape affect all the figures of this card.
If it only affected one figure, why would they add in the power : "(or cards if your opponent has more than one Common Army Card for that figure)"
It is the same as for Morsbane (targeting a unique squad figure), only there is no negation marker as the effect only last until end of round.
If it doesn't convince you, I'll let someone in the C3V rule team say it too. I'm however 100% sure of what I say here.

Well, apparently others in the C3V Inner Sanctum thought the same way as I did during design, but was converted to all figures.
Makes more sense to me to affect only one figure; but I guess if you know the weakness of one you know the weakness of all.
Now I'm going to use her as filler most of the time instead of Guilty, I think.

By the way, if I counted right (I may have missed one or two), the distinction only matters for 7 cards in the entire game.
Cathar Spearmen (Multiple Spears)
Deepwyrm Drow (Multiple chances for Poison off of LEAs)
Gladiatrons (Multiple Claws)
Gnids (Multiple Clings off of LEAs)
Knights of Weston (Multiple extra LEA dice)
Nakita Agents (Multiple Engagement Strikes/chances for Smoke Powder)
Zombies (Multiple chances for ZRA off of LEAs)
Also, most of those situations will happen rarely even when the figures happen to be in the same game as Kira.
Edit: I forgot that her range was slightly higher than the power range, so it can matter more often, as Lyrgard notes below. Still, it's not a huge difference. The power would be really nasty text-wise for a single figure, anyway.

It is not exactly true.
Kira Jax's power has a range of 6, and she can shoot at range 7. Let's say there is a gorillinator 7 spaces away from Kira at the end of her move, and another one less than 6 spaces away.
She can target the second gorillinator with her Exploit Weakness power to remove the THOUGH power of all of them and attack the one 7 spaces away (let's say this one was on a glyph, for instance).
So this distinction matters for all squads with defensives powers, or powers like the Necromancy of the skeleton of Annellintia, that's a lot more of them.
This point become more evident if Kira Jax has her range boosted (like with Glyph of Ivor), thus widening the gap between her power's range and her attack's range.
But I agree with you, it should not occur very often.
Lyrgard, loving to find corner cases of powers.

It does indeed affect every single one of the figures attached to a card, even if they're common. Negating a common card can be sort of weird, thematically, which is why Kira Jax was a little controversial in her time. But my opinion is that the really weird part is being able to negate a squad, which door was already opened by Morsbane. We just kicked the already-open door all the way off the hinges.
If you need some thematic justification, try this: Kira Jax has studied the tactics of the Cathars and now knows how to negate their Braced Spear. Why should it matter which specific spearman she was watching? If she knows how to slip past one braced spear, she can slip past them all.
If you need even more thematic justification, try this: Repeat to yourself it's just a game, and I should really just relax.

The latina Nakita agent would probably make a good one in a pinch.
This Madame Masque figure could work, an it's only 50 cents.

I used a SW Arica -- see the CheapScape section of my customs for a proxy card. She's not the best fit, but she's cheap.

Been trying for awhile to find the AT-43 figure but with no luck - except for the high priced metal figure. I'm using an Anya Stroud figure from the Gears of War Heroclix line. May try to paint her hair red.

That's a pretty good proxy. Kira being the only VC figure (other than repaints) that I don't own, I may have to try this myself. (Not the painting ... I'll have to be happy with her hair as it is. )
Thanx for the tip!

I second the suggestion for the Anya Stroud alternative. It seems like a good fit. Readily available. Inexpensive. And I can even provide these...

Yes, I still lurks here sometimes, here and on the French site.
I have kept my sets and figures and I still love the game.
But unfortunately it's a long time since my last game.
