1. Hire other local veteran driver (who talks Putonghua and Tibetan language)

 

car rental is only possible in Sichuan, and won't be available in Tibet;

all car rentals to foriegn passports holders, which are inside Tibet or going into Tibet, will go together with required papers, local guide service, and hotel reservation

tourists from Hong Kong and Maccau are free from those regulations, they can travel into Tibet just like common mainland Chinese tourists
