Jyekundo (Yushu) Tibetan prefectureJyekundo Tibetan prefecture is located in the south of Qinghai province, to its north is Haixi Mongonians Autonomour prefectue, to its northwest is Bayinguole Autonomous prrefecture of Xinjian Uygur A.R., to its east is Guoluo tibetan prefecture, to its south is Chamdo prefecture of Tibet A.R. and Nakchu prrefecture of Tibet A.R., to its southeast is Ganzi tibetan prefecture of Sichuan province; its widest is 738 kilometers to the west to the east and 406 kilometers from its north to its south, and its total land area is 267,000 square kiloometers; the total population of Yushu Tibetan prefecture is 280,000 people, among them, tibetans count for 95.3%. Yushu Tibetan prefecture has many monastic building complexes, there are 192 monasteris in total (countiing for 30% of the remainging monasteries in Qinghai province); among them are 13 monasteries of 2 sects co-exisited, 2 unidentified, 22 of skyapa order, 23 of Gelupa order,, 31 of Nyingmapa order and 101 of Garguelpa order. Yusu tibetan prefecture is the water source to Yangtse river, Yellow river and Lanchangjiang river (Mekong). Under its adminstrative management are Yushu county, Zhaduo county,, Zhiduo county, Chengduo county, Qumalai county, and Nangqian county.
