How to use telephone/cell phone in China
When dial from out of China, don't use the preffix zero in the area code.
For example, while Beijing area code is 010, when you dial a Beijing telephone number 6555 5555 , you dial 10 instead of 010 as city code;
International code for China is 86, therefore when you want to dial Beijing Number 6555 5555, you dial International access code of the local country + 86 + 10 + 6555 5555.
It is the same to dial a China cell phone from outside of China, for example, if the Chinese hold a cell phone as 13988877775, you dial 00+86+139888877775
But when you travel inside China, these ways can help you save money and easily access your freinds or agents inside China
1. if you have a cell phone, you can go to the street shop to buy a cell phone card instead of your own cell phone card; but there are two things to remember (1): buy a card which has NO monthly rental charge; (2): if your cell phone has limits, for example, compay internal use only, your purchased card in China cannot work; on this instance, you should buy a cell phone and a suggested cell phone card at the first leg of your China tour
2. Call inside a hotel, the charge is higher than that when calling outside hotel; but if you call China domestic telephone, the charge is affordable to you; international call from inside a hotel will be expensive.
3. if you want to call back home from China using your China cell phone card, the charge is very expensive; if you want to call back home from China, we suggest you go to IP telephone shop and use the phones there, the charge will be very cheap calliing from the IP telephone shop, for example, calling to USA from China, the charge is only one quarter of one US dollar every minute computed by computer.
4. If you do not have a cell phone with you while in China, you can make a call using man on duty Public Telephone found on streets or go to the IP telephone shop and usinig phones there to call.
5. No matter you dial back home or to other counties or dial a China domestic phone, using telephone in an IP telpehone shop is strongly suggested and recomended; it can save you a big amount of expense
