10 days overland tour from Sichuan to Tibet (by southern route)

Chengdu - kangding - Litang - Batang - Zuogong - Basu - Bomi - Bayi - Gongbu Gyangdha - Lhasa

Day01: Chengdu to kangding

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: 3* Kamding hotel or same level

the pilgrm at Zhaojue temple (nrth Chengdu)Drive through the Erlangshan tunnel (4.17km long) to arrive at kangding. On the way, passing by the famous scenery - Hailuogou glaciers which is at the eastern side of Mt. Gongha (7556m). In kangding city, visit Anjue monastery.

Day02: kangding to Litang (290KM)

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Litang hotel or same level

On the way, drive over 3 mountain passes - all over 4000m. Litang is 4014m above sea level, located in the huge and wide Maoyar prairie. Litang monastery is the famous visit of this tour. Every year, a grand festival will start at August 01. The 7th and 10th Dalai Lama were born here. The 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th Pabhara living buddha also were born here. In history of Tibet, Pabhara living Buddha is the top religious leader of Chamdo monastery. 80km to the south of Litang is the 3rd highest mountain Mt. Gernhie and a famous Kagyulpa monastery.

Day03: Litang to Mangkang (300KM)

Drive through several tunnels to get to Batang, Batang is the westmost town of Sichuan province; after Batang, drive further 36 kilometers to cross Jingshajiang river to get into Tibet A.R. Jingshajiang river is the natural bundary between Sichuan and Tibet A.R.

Day04: Mangkham to Basu (360KM)

Hotel: local hotel

Mangkham is the first  county in Tibet if driving into Tibet from Sichuan or northern Yunnan provinces. Driving southward from here is the road leading to Derchen, Zhongdian, Lijiang and Kunming.

Day05: Basu to Ranwu lake to Bomi (225KM)

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Holy Eagle hotel or same level

From Basu, driving southwards to lake Ranwok, Ranwok lake is the source of Palongzangbu river, which starts here and flows westwards and merges itself into Yalongzangbu river. Stroll around Ranwu lake.

Day06: Bomi to Bayi town (240KM)

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Holiday hotel or same level

lake ranwu in east TibetDrive westwards to reach Bayi city, on the way, you have chance to view the grand peak of Mt. Nanjiabawa, which is 7782 meters (25,525ft)

Day07: Bayi city to Lhasa (400KM)

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Kunlun Hotel or same level

Drive the final 400 kilometers to get to Lhasa, the destination of this tour; naturally sightseeing along the way. having lunch at Songduo

Day08: Lhasa sightseeing

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Kunlun Hotel or same level

In the morning, visit the grand - looking Potala Palace, which was built in the 7th century for the King. In the afternoon, visit Jokhang temple and stroll in the famous local bazaar - Parkhor street.

Day09: Lhasa sightseeing

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Kunlun Hotel or same level

Visit Tsepung monastery which is the biggest monastery in Tibet. Then visit Sera monastery and Norbulingka which can give you deep impression of Tibet arts and civilization.

Day10: Lhasa to your destination

Meals: B
Hotel: N/A

                                         USD1688.00 per person (from July through to October) based on 3-pax group
