13 days overland travel along Yunnan Tibet highway through Basu and Bomi

Kunming - Lijiang - Zhongdian - Derchen - Mangkham - Basu - Bomi - Bayi town - Gongbu Gyangdha - Lhasa

Day01: Kunming to Lijiang by air

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Maoyuan hostel or same level

In the morning, fly to Lijiang. Upon arrival, local guide will meet you. Visit Lijiang old city and the Lijiang museum of Dongba culture.

Day02: Mt. Yulong sightseeing

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Maoyuan hostel or same level

Visit the Yulong snow mountain, which is about 15km to the north of this old town. Stroll in the Lijiang old town in the left time.

Day03: Lijiang to Shangri-la (220KM)

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Sightseeing hotel or same level

Drive to Shangri-la from Lijiang, on the way, visit the Tiger Jumping Gorge, and the “First Bend of the yangtse River” at Shigu town. In the afternoon arrive in Shangri-la, with an altitude of 3200m, most of the residents here are Tibetans.

Day04: Shangri-la sightseeing

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Sightseeing hotel or same level

In the morning, visit the Sumsanling Monastery, which was created in 1679 by the Fifth Dalai lama. It is considered as the most important monastery of Gelukpa - sect in Yunnan province. In the afternoon walk to visit Dabao Si Monastery.

Day05: Shangri-la to Dechen to Yanjing town (300Km)

Church at Yanjing, the first small village in Tibet (entry from Yunnan)Drive through parts of the Hengduan Range along the Jinsha Jiang River. Have a break in a beautiful small town named Benzilan. Finally arrive at Dechen, have a far view Mt. Meili, the highest peak in Yunnan Province, with an altitude of 6740m above sea level. This peak is named “Kawagebo” after a Tibetan brave man; keep driving to Yanjing, the first little town inside Tibet A.R.

Day06 Yajing to Mangkham to Zuogong (245KM)

Yanjing is a nice place to stroll around, enjoy the peace of life, visit a Church at the north end of the town. then drive 90 kilometers northward to Mangkang, having lunch at Mangkham town, a small city on the important Sichuan - Tibet Highway (Chengdu - Lhasa). From there, turn left and keep drivin gto Zuogong; On the way to Zuogong from Mangkham, drive over 3 muntain passes, the view on this part of drive is impressive and very beqautiful in summer and fall time.

Day07: Zuogong to Bangdha to Basu to Ranwu lake (295 kilometers)

Following a river upstream to Bangdha, it is a very small town, driving to the north from here is Bangdha airport, to west is to Basu, between Basu and Bangdha is the famous and very high Nujiang mountain range and deep valleys; after passing by Basu county, driving further 100 kilometers southward to Ranwu lake.

Day08: Ranwu to Bomi

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Holy Eagle hotel or same level

Potala palace in Lhasa, TibetBefore 1030AM, you are free to stroll by the lake (if needed, send you to the lake side for photo taking); after that, drive 130 kilometers to Bomi; having lunch at Songzong
At Bomi, first send you to a temple for a visit, after that you are free to arrange your time around. 

Day09: Bomi to Linzhi to Bayi town

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Holiday hotel or same level

After Ranwu, driving downstream to Bomi, the scenery in and around Bomi town (Tsmu town) is typical subtropical weather. From the town, people can see exposing snow peaks.

Day10 Bayi to Basongtso lake to Gongbu Gyangdha to Lhasa

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Kunlun Hotel or same level

On the way, leave hotel early (suggested around 0700), drive into a valley to visit the Basongtso (Lake), the snow mountain, the crystal lake, the lush trees and the monastery make up a nice paradise for living.  after it, drive about 300 kilometers westwards to Lhasa.

Day11: Lhasa sightseeing

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Kunlun Hotel or same level

lake RanwuIn the morning, visit the grand - looking Potala Palace, which was built in the 7th century for the King. In the afternoon, visit Jokhang temple and stroll in the famous local bazaar - Parkhor street.

Day12: Lhasa sightseeing

Meals: B/L/D
Hotel: Kunlun Hotel or same level

Visit Tsepung monastery which is the biggest monastery in Tibet. Then visit Sera monastery and Norbulingka which can give you deep impression of Tibet arts and civilization.

Day13: Lhasa to your destination by air

Meals: B
Hotel: N/A

Take morning flight to your next stop.
