14 days Tibet trek route: old Tingri to Mt. Everest + overland tour Lhasa to Kathmandu
Tibet is a highland featuring on high mountains and deep rivers. Its features of geography made itself cut off from the rest of the world for a long time, many adventurers from Germany, Britain, America, Japan and Russia had failed in 19th century and early 20th century on their way to Lhasa and to Mt. Everest because of reasons of nature and human. As a tour opeator in Tibet travels, we have gathered rich and helpful experiences on highland trekking. In Tibet, there are several nice trekking routes for trekkers and adventurers to take after their regular travel in Tibet, for example, after their visits to Lhasa, Tsetang or Shigatse.
Start your journey to Tibet with a spectacular flight over the snow capped Hengduan mountains. In Lhasa, visit the Potala, the famous palace of the Dalai Lama, Norbulinkha, the great Drepung Monastery and the holy Jokhang Temple. Walk amongst the crowded Tibetan market - the bustling Barkor Bazaar. Drive past the beautiful Turquoise lake - Yangdrok lake on the way to the historic town of Gyantse with its unique multi-storied Perkhor Chode Stupa. At Shigatse walk through the massive Tashilungpo monastery and visit the memorial 'Chorten' of the late Panchen Lama.
The trek will take you up the historic expedition route from Old Tingri to Rongbuk Monastery crossing the Langma La pass (5200m). Later hike up to the North Everest Base Camp and explore the Rongbuk glacier set directly below the massive north - face of Mount Everest. After gazing at the worlds highest mountain scenery from Rongbuk drive by way of the amazing Himalayas Highway to Kathmandu of Nepal.
Day01: Flying to Lhasa

Taking the morning flight into Tibet, upon your arrival, local guide will meet you and transfer you to Lhasa. On the way, you can enjoy the heart - beating highland view along the Yalu Zangbu river (the longest river in Tibet, the lower reach in India is called Brham Putra river); in the afternoon, you are free for relaxing and more Oxygen.
Day02: Lhasa sightseeing

In the morning, visit the grand - looking Potala Palace, which was built in the 7th century for the King. In the afternoon, visit Jokhang temple and stroll in the famous local bazaar - Parkhor street.
Day03: Lhasa sightseeing

Visit the Tsepung monastery, which is the biggest monastery in Tibet. After lunch, visit Sera monastery and Tibet museum.
Day 04: Lhasa to Gyangtse

Drive Lhasa to Gyangtse via Yamdrok Tsho (Turquoise Lake). In the afternoon, visit Phakhor Monastery, Kumbum Stupa and Gyangtse market.
Day 05: Gyangtse to Shigatse

Drive Gyangtse to Shigatse. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Tashilungpo monastery and Shigatse market.
Day 06: Shigatse to Lhatse to New Tingri to Ganggha town (Old Tingri)

Drive Shigatse to Old Tingri.
Day 07: Trek

Start trekking along Ra Chu stream to beyond Cholling and Lungjhang villages (14,850 ft).

Continue trek to Drokpa encampment below Lamna La (5120m).

Cross over Lamna La (5120m) to Rongbuk river .
Day 10: Rongbuk monastery

Trek up Rongbuk river to Rongbuk Monastery (16,350 ft).
Day 11: Everest base camp

Day 12: Base camp to old Tingri

Drive to Old Tingri (Ganggha town).

Drive over the Himalayas and down to border town of Zhangmu.
Day 14: Zhangmu to Kathmandu of Nepal

After going through China Customs, then cross the Friendship Bridge into Nepal.
