Dharma Festival in Gyangtse

Dharma Festival in Gyangtse, till now, has a history over 500 years. A legend goes that: in history, the local Lord -- Phaba Sangbu enjoyed a high reputation among the people, after his death, his deciples and followers would make religious rituals to honor him, but this kind of ceremony was intervened by later on --going wars untill 1408 when his son succeeded his throne, and resumed it. Because the resumed ceremony ws held in from the 19th day through to 27th day in the 4th mouth by Tibetan canlender in 1408, so latere the locals made it a local popular festival, in this festival, people could make friends with each other, and exchange necessities.
In this festival, religious rituals, and entertainments of many kinds such as wrestling, round stone lifting, huge Thangka showing, shooting and horse racing would be held. This festival will last 4 days, in these days, the grassland in Gyangtse will be full of happiness.
The highlights of the festival was and still is riding on a horse and shoot on standing or moving target.
In these days, inferflow of commodities is becoming more and more popular. And of course it is a nice time for young girls and boys to know each other.
