Yangdrok Lake Yangdrok Lake, located 100km to the south of Lhasa city, with a elevation 4441m, is the second biggest, sacred lake in Tibet (in Tibet, Namtso, Lamunatso, Manasarovar were thought to be sacred lakes in this snow land.) This lake is just by the Lhasa - Gyangtse - Shigatse road (old road), occupies an area of 648 square kilometres, it is a ring - shaped lake, in it is a huge Island (in fact, now it is a peninsuna), the watr in is salty. There are a lot of fishes in the lake, some people said that every person in China could have 0.5 kelograms of fish, I don't think it is a boast, for in the past thousands of years, the fish in were thought to be the God's or Gudian's manifestations, no one dared to eat, so lakes in Tibet are the paradises for fishes. Although nowadays people are going to taste fish, but the fishes in lakes, rivers in Tibet are under national protection because of the rare species. Close to the lake are some other scenic spots such as the Snagding monastery, the Karola glacier and the 7191m Noijinkangsang peak.
