Pintsolin monastery

Pintsolin monastery is located in Pintsolin village of Lhatse county (Pintsolin monastery is 62km to the Lhatse county town and Lhatse is 150km to the west of Shigatse city).

This monastery has a elevation about 4100m and was built in 1614 by Dono Natha, after 5th Dalai Lama got power, this monastery converted itself from Jhulangpa order to Gelupa order, at its peak time, this monastery held 35 chambers, assembly hall and 3300 monks. But now, only 47 monks live in.

More than half of the all buildings had been pulled down in history and in the cultural revolution time. A lot of splendid wall paintings can be still seen in these days.

There are 4 treasures kept inside, the first is the handcane for Tubu Xirhaogyantsan, the second is also a cane for Dono Natha, the third is a pair of gangs, the fourth is two egg -- shaped jewellries.

Every year, on the 27th day of the twelfth month by Tibetan calendar, a grand Qiangmu religious dances will be held; on the 8th day of the tenth month by Tibetan calendar, a religious ritual for Tara will be held.
