Lhasa and its around Tsetang and its around Shigatse and its around Nari Chamdo

Namtso LakeNamtso, located 220km to the north of Lhasa city, is the Biggest and highest salty lake in Tibet. The water area of it is over 1940 square kilometres, and the elevation is 4718m, just between two huge mountains, 40km to its south is the pek of Nyiachentangula mountain ranges, altitude is 7162m, to its north side is also a mountain range of Nyiachentangula. Around it is huge grassland, in summer time it is nice to see yaks, sheep, horses, wild donkeys, rock goats, bears and other wild animals wondering around. In Tibetan language, it was called “Heavenly lake”, in Mongonian, people call it “Tengri sea” because in 13th century, Mongonians once got intothis snow land, from then on, the Tibet accepted the rule of Mongol. There are 5 islands in the lake, the biggest one is over 1.2 square kilometres, these five islands were thought to be the manifestation of five Buddhas, there are in all five peninsunas extend into the lake, the Tsashi peninsuna is the biggest one, on it are guesthouses and a lot of meditating c aves. Pilgrims passed words on their mouthes that every sheep year by Tibetan canlendar, there was a grand get - together of Buddhas, vajhas, avolokitesvaras, gudians would gathered here at the invitation of the - God Nyianchentangula, so they thought trekking and paying their homage to this lake at sheep year would be a kind of great bless from the Gods. The grand time happens on April 15, on sheep year by Tibetan calendar.
